I met John Crouch from LendAPI, like Land of Lending, L-E-N-D-A-P-I, and they are like a Zapier platform for banks to build lending workflows. It's a no-code platform.
They are one year old, and what they are trying to do is a self-serve automation platform. But when time comes in, they do white-glove services as well.
Now they are very new to space, so I guess they do that because they are new and they don't want to lose any customer, but eventually, in a year or two, there will be bigger, there will be space for service agencies like ours to support new customers.

Okay, I got an interesting tip here. This is a guy working for AeroPay. It's Connor Ted Strom and he was working at Sazl.
So, Sazl, as AeroPay, is a buy now pay later platform and Sazl requires a lot of integrations. There are merchants that use Shopify and that's a quick 20 minute integration, but then there are merchants that use Salesforce Cloud and that requires a month long integration and then there are some larger merchants that need a full custom integration.
This usually is the merchant in charge of integrating the payment platform. So it's worth following up and trying to connect with Sazl folks or any buy now pay later solutions. It's Sazzle. @Paul Kortman - Connex there are a couple of BNPL companies at the event. One is Zip Up. See if you can find the others
most of the BNPL companies in Vegas today are at the Merchant Risk Council event at the Aria Resort. Klarna, Affirm, Afterpay, Zip7:48Paypal, Monzo, Grab Holdings, Openpay and Futurepay may also be at MRC

So just met Hayden from Runway. They do dashboards, financial dashboards for companies and it's interesting what he said because they pull data from others and they used merge.dev in the past and today they are using Fivetran to do those connections.
So they have like listed 70 native integrations and most of them if not all run through Fivetran. So they don't have a lot of new deals that require custom integrations and when they do they usually ask Fivetran to build a connector for that extra app.
So most of the times they cover them all and they don't have like the need for having a third-party vendor like us.

So, I was speaking with these guys from Nuvai, N-U-V-A-I, and one interesting point that they brought up is the KYC process.
It's a mess for this kind of companies, especially, they need to collect a lot of information, a lot of documents, signatures, and they usually do it manually through email.
So this is a small app opportunity or small pitch we can explore as well, but I've heard this many times, people complaining about the KYC, this is what takes longer for them.

So, I met this company called Autorek, A-U-T-O-R-E-K, and I'm pretty sure they are in our ICP, but for some reason the conversation wasn't that fruitful as I wanted.
They are a UK-based company expanding into the U.S., and they do have an API, and people request integrations for especially ERPs, sending the reconciliation data to ERPs, and then also ingesting the data.
It seems like they have a professional service arm, but the sales guys weren't that like, oh yeah, we have a pain point with sales. No, they weren't like that, so probably it's worth following up with them, with some superior or with a tech leader at their company.

Again, trying to give you advice that I don't know we want to hear about, but basically to learn more about the fintech world and focus on a specific niche within fintech like healthcare, companies managing claims, or insurance companies, the smaller ones that are starting to look into modernizing their tech stack and integrating with us.

I met a guy from ADP. It's funny he isn't like a startup before ADP to use all the employee data they have. They're looking to build a marketplace.
So for example insurance companies or e-commerce business that want to sell to employees, like employees can pay with the bank or they can buy an insurance or they can request their paycheck, anticipate their paycheck. There are startups that, financial services that do this.
So they're looking to build a marketplace where these startups can offer their services to ADP user base. Interestingly enough he gave me the email address and contact for the PandaSync Bamboo HR integration product that we're building.

We met a guy, an account executive from Dwolla, and sounds like their biggest pain points or what delays the deal is all the compliance and paperwork stuff. Integrations is just a fraction of that. Not a big deal for them.

So, I learned a little bit more about the banking. There are small credit unions, we are talking with WECU, W-E-C-U, and this is a project manager at WECU and he was telling me a little bit that they do a lot of work with FISERV. They don't like it but they have to deal with it, it's like the most used banking platform in the U.S. at least. But he mentioned something interesting about Plaid, so they are integrating Plaid for a specific use case. For instance, when they need to check for an account, they send micropayments like cents and before they were waiting for the account holder or the new customer to report the values back, but now with Plaid integrated within FISERV, they can automate this.

One big thing about fintech meetup is that there is a lot of banking related companies. So there are banks, there are unions, there are credit unions, there are many corporations that have legacy software and kind of JP Morgan brought them together with fintech. And the speech from a JP Morgan head of integrations was that they realized that JP Morgan, they can't solve this problem and they are opening up for fintechs to solve the banking problem, banking software legacy problem. So this is a world we are very new to and I need help understanding if we can solve part of it, be part of it.
PK: So Zapier cannot be part of the legacy banking software problem imo. We could discuss this with Phil. In fact I’ll bring it up to him since he is with all the zapier folks this week.

so I had this guy advising a little bit against our idea and because he said usually integrations are an easy piece it's not a deal-breaker it's a pain but it's not a big of a pain. This guy had a software company for 15 years; in the last five, he is dedicated to building a blockchain product and he will be asked eventually for API integrations and or mastercard integration which is the CDF 3 file format. But he's in seed stage, so still not series A and he's a very small very lean today.
So I'm wondering if it's because of the problems he used to solve when he has a software dev agency before were so big and integrations were just a small piece or because most of the clients he had integrations were not big of a deal. He said yeah we just get the documentation and that's it. Today it's just hard to get the documentation and that's not a technical issue it's a people issue.
I'm wondering if this guy is giving us good advice or he just is from a different niche.

We met a guy that does very enterprise deals, so they have like 30 big bank clients around the world. Oh no, actually only in the US, and they have like 70 around the world. And they have like a product slash services, so it's all included. But the interesting point is that he suggested to use the meetings. Meetings are, we need to pay extra, like $25,000 to the event, and they will pair us with hand selected potential clients, and it's $20,000 for how many meetings, 35 meetings. So interesting for next year, if we have the funds, or we can ask Zapier for funds or something like that, or make.
Make pays 50% marketing initiatives. Self organized meetups is one. Wondering if going to conferences could be another

Pitch: I remove friction in your sales, by integrating your customers at a flat fee

The old way eventually wanted to build the integration in their product and not like a third-party connector but then the discussion went into to build it as a no-code integration but if they have more clients they want to build it in their production so they don't need to do all the custom stuff and they can have it as an integration to directly connect
PK: Yeah it can be a tough sell. But the focus is to help them do the things that bring in more signups ….. features (integrations are one of the features) bring in more signups. If they put their devs on integrations that will remove them from other feature development.Speed that’s what no code integrations offer. As well as full customization for the users/clients.

This guy from OrdWay, O-R-D-W-A-Y, they are looking for an extension of their team, this is what their exact words, and basically they want to teach us their software, and when a new integration comes in, a new integration request, yeah, we will do it. The guy doesn't want to put his engineers to build integrations because they are focused on products and they have already the roadmap planned out for maybe even months, so they want to avoid to pull resources from other, from their core product basically to do services.

Follow up with the guy from Stax, Stax, S-T-A-X, he was formerly from Blockchip and he sold his integration company to Stax, so probably having the same journey as we do.

I talked with these guys at Malted AI. They are a 20 people startup and they are deploying LLMs into AWS for banks doing compliance.
So banks doing compliance or anything tech doing compliance, they probably address only two percent of the documentation and what they are doing is adding this LLM on premise or on the cloud, but on custom servers.
So banks can approach the other 98% of documentation with AI.
They are pretty small, but probably in a year or two they will need services, prototype services like ours.

So, there are a lot of identification fintechs, like IDmerit, Verif, CAF. These are all identification SaaS, and one of the pain points they may have is showing up on marketplaces like Google Cloud or AWS.
That's another product I service that I mentioned in the past, but for this kind of specific fintechs, it's a pain point we would need to discover more about. 0:00: , to show up, we need just need to build the integration as we did for Brex. 0:06: We already did this, but the question is what they get out of it because especially identity, it's a confusing, it's a, it's a terrible keyword basically it's like, OCTA will show up often and, identity verification. 0:25: , maybe, well, still identity verification is a hard like keyword. 0:32: You will, other apps not related to FinTech identity verification will pop up. 0:00: And I don't know the, I don't know what that like marketplace how that actually works so we were trying to understand together with this, the CEO of ID merit, what that would, look like, but, and how would that like he's interest in more more users of course. 0:26: So, but I don't know if the AWS marketplace is a good one for them. 0:34: Maybe there are other marketplaces, because ID verification, you know, it's not a user-based thing like AWS sounds like a user-based thing like you have 100 users you need res for, OK, you buy it through the marketplace, But it's an interesting concept. 0:58: There, there. 0:01: So there are a lot of ID verification apps here. 0:06: I'm wondering what kind of product service we can come up with for them. 0:14: Like I don't know, showing up on Pipeream that could be an idea. PK: damn, Phil would kill us if our $100k client is using Pipedream and not Zapier

So they're looking to build a marketplace where these startups can offer their services to ADP user base. Interestingly enough he gave me the email address and contact for the PandaSync Bamboo HR integration product that we're building.

I met with Lori from a company called Finli, F-I-N-L-I. They are a small agency as ours, there are like 15 people, and what they do is they have a small product for banks and credit institutions and they do a lot, a lot of integrations.
The tricky part here is that the kind of integrations they are doing with FinServ and F-I-S and other constellations, it's another software, banking software, they require developers to do some background checks. But beyond that, she literally mentioned integrations is a revenue generation item for us.
So they are interested in expediting integrations and her pain point is the speed of integrations. So if she could have someone to tap into to expedite integrations, that would be great for her. I think she's a small company, small agencies as ours, that they found some sort of market fit and interested in learning more about their story, learning more about the integrations they do, and third, they are a Zapier user as well, heavy Zapier user, so maybe they become clients of ours as well.

So interesting for next year, if we have the funds, or we can ask Zapier for funds or something like that, or make.

so I had this guy advising a little bit against our idea and because he said usually integrations are an easy piece it's not a deal-breaker it's a pain but it's not a big of a pain.

Actually, Aeropay is not a pay layer, it's more about a bank-to-bank or account-to-account transfer platform.
So they work a lot, for example, with cannabis or eSports bets platforms, as well as other industries that are trying to break in, but the integration is not like their bigger pain point is the compliant part, which they require a lot, a lot of documentation from the customers.
Or when working with startups, they may require a legal opinion or some audits that are expensive for startups to produce.

0:31: So, Mastercard has like, I don't know if it's an Apple Pay competitor or similar, but something like that.
